Circuits without PCB etching

Problem: I want to make circuits nice (because the ugly soldering is sometimes acrobatic and not easy to understand) but I don't want to invest 1,000 Euro for having my full kit for making PCB including those ultimately toxic and dangerous acids for etching.
Solutions:

1. use simple standards PCB
   1. Pros: not too expensive, lots of size, some better than others
   2. Cons: acrobatic soldering, not optimal component positionning
2. scavenge existing PCB (from old stuffs)
   1. Pros: not expensive, you might have the perfect (or so) PCB
   2. Cons: gotta find some, sometimes not optimal at all
3. combo of the standard PCB %20 solder pen
   1. Pros: draw your circuit, bake it, and solder it. Nice alternative to standard PCB, easier to reproduct.
   2. Cons: gotta bake it, still not like making your own PCB, doesn't save of the pre-thinking or the acrobatics
